Sadh haif zaalimon ne sataaya Hussain ko

Bulwake pani tak na pilaya Hussain ko

The oppressors went out of their way to harass Imam Hussain

They invited him to come yet deprived him to drink water

Aise khuda ke pyaaro ko bas Kufiyon ne aa

Bahtar ka daagh deke rulayaa Hussain ko

This was how the people of Kufa betrayed The beloved of Allah

A betrayal that left a painful wound in his heart

Aabid ne waqt dafn ke shaane hila hila

Apna tamam haal sunaya Hussain ko

When Imam Sajjad came to burry his father and was shaking his shoulders (during burial)

He told his father all the pain that was in his heart

Kis garmiyo(n) me ghar se nikaala hazaar haif

Kya dhup me laakar ne jalaaya Hussain ko

Imam had to leave his home in the desert heat – what oppression!

He was not given any shade – to increase the torture on Hussain

Hur ne kahan yu(n) hi mere dil ko malaal hai

Kyu dashte karbala me mein laya Hussain ko

Hur was in deep thought asking why he was conflicted

About why he brought Imam Hussain to Karbala

Usko khuda na hashr me bakhshega ay razi

Ha(n)s Ha(n)s ke jis laee(n) ne rulaaya Hussain ko

Allah will never forgive him in the hereafter

He who mocked and tortured Imam Hussain

Kya kya jafa-o-zulm kiye hay hazaar haif

Khat likh ke karbala me bulaya Hussain ko

What pain their betrayal caused 

Those who wrote letters and invited Imam Hussain

Rone diya khuda ne na Ahmad ke saam ne

Harni ko bacha deke manaya Hussain ko

Allah would not let Hussain cry in front of his grandfather (Ahmad) 

The deer gave birth to appease Hussain winning him over eternally

Shimre laeen ki ssari jafaae(n) bayaan ki

Roke nishane tawq dikhaya Hussain ko
