Sayyade Abraar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan
Zehra ka dildaar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Goro Kafan laash ko, jisko mayassar nahi,
Us tane nachar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Laash pe jinke nahi, rone ko koi raha,
Bekaso beyaar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Margaye AbbasAli, Bazu kata nehr par,
Sheh ke alamdaar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Teer se maragaya, Asghare maasum tak,
Us mahe anwaar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Aap bhi mare gaye, Saathi bhi mare gaye,
Lashkaro sardaar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Hogaye chalees din, mare gaye hai Imam,
Ashike ghaffar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Sayyade Abraar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Zehra ka dildaar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Today is the fortieth of the Master of the free (Imam Hussain)

Today is the fortieth of Zahra’s beloved son

Goro Kafan laash ko, jisko mayassar nahi,

Us tane nachar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

The one who lays on the sand of Karbala without a shroud

Today is the fortieth of that abandoned body

Laash pe jinke nahi, rone ko koi raha,

Bekaso beyaar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

The corpse that has nobody to cry upon it

Today is the fortieth of that lonely person

Margaye AbbasAli, Bazu kata nehr par,

Sheh ke alamdaar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Abbas son of Ali has been martyred, his hands severed on the river banks

Today is the fortieth of the standard bearer of Hussains army

Teer se maragaya, Asghare maasum tak,

Us mahe anwaar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Asgher was killed with an arrow

Today is the fortieth of that pure innocent light

Aap bhi mare gaye, Saathi bhi mare gaye,

Lashkaro sardaar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Imam and his companions were all martyred

Today is the fortieth of the soldiers in his army

Hogaye chalees din, mare gaye hai Imam,

Ashike ghaffar ka aaj hai chaleeswaan

Its been forty days since the Imam was martyred

Today is the fortieth of the noble pure one
